Stories of Resilience in a changing climate
"Rising Together" is a VR interactive experience designed for Oculus Quest 2 and 3. The experience tells the story of the events that occurred in Portland in 2020 and 2021 through the eyes of two teenagers. Over the course of one year, the city faced a wildfire, a heatwave, and an ice storm. These cascading impacts disproportionately affected vulnerable communities, and the experience vividly depicts these effects firsthand. Developed in collaboration with Portland State University, this project was part of a workshop aimed at engaging community residents, stakeholders, and decision-makers on the topic of cascading impacts and strategies to enhance Portland's resilience to climate change.
The experience premiered at the Wall Street Journal Future of Everything Festival 2024 and was a finalist for the Best Climate Change Solution at the AWE Auggie Awards 2024. These accolades highlight the project's innovative approach and its potential impact on fostering understanding and action regarding climate resilience.
