Virtual Planet Technologies, LLC ("VPT") respects the privacy of the users of its applications, services, and games, including various versions of the Level Rise Explorer ("SLR apps"). We recognize the importance of protecting information collected from our users and have adopted this Privacy Policy to inform you about how we gather, use, process, store and disclose your information, including personal information, in conjunction with your use of our SLR app.

1) What information do we collect from our users?
We collect two basic types of information – personal information and anonymous information – and we may use personal and anonymous information to create a third type of information, aggregate information. Personal Information means information that identifies (whether directly or indirectly) a particular individual, such as the individual’s first and last name, postal address, e-mail address, IP address and/or telephone number. Anonymous Information means information that does not directly or indirectly identify, and cannot reasonably be used to identify, an individual (including an individual’s computing device). Aggregate Information means information about groups or categories of individuals which does not identify and cannot reasonably be used to identify an individual. We may share Aggregate and Anonymous Information with other parties without restriction
2) We collect the following categories of information:
a) The user’s IP address;
b) Location-related information limited to City, which can be derived from information such as your device’s IP address;
c) The answers to 3 survey questions which relate to the experience of the Santa Cruz SLR app.
3) When do we collect information?
We collect information from you when you enter information on our app and with respect to the Location-related information and IP address, they are collected automatically each time you use the SLR app.
Please keep in mind that when you provide information to us while using the Oculus device, the information you provide may be separately collected by Oculus. The information we collect is covered by this Privacy Policy and the information that Oculus may collect is subject to their privacy practices. Privacy choices you have made with Oculus will not apply to our use of the information we have collected directly through our applications, services, and games.
4) How do we use your information?
We use the information to identify where our applications, services, and games are being downloaded and used. Since the SLR apps are used as a climate change awareness tool, in some cases, we use the responses to the survey in aggregated format to identify which proposed coastal adaptation ideas is better received by users and whether using the SLR apps has made the user more aware of the risks associated with climate change and sea levels rising in the coastal communities designated in the SLR apps.
5) How do we protect your information?
You information is used only for the limited purposes set forth above and we do not:
- use vulnerability scanning and/or scanning to PCI standards.
- - use Malware Scanning.
- - use an SSL certificate
- - ask for personal or private information like names, email addresses, or credit card numbers.
- - use cookies for tracking purposes
- - sell, trade, or otherwise transfer to third parties your Personally Information.
- - include or offer third-party products or services on our app.
6) COPPA (Children Online Privacy Protection Act)
When it comes to the collection of personal information from children under the age of 13 years old, the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA) puts parents in control. The Federal Trade Commission, United States' consumer protection agency, enforces the COPPA Rule, which spells out what operators of apps and online services must do to protect children's privacy and safety online.
We do not market to children under the age of 13 years old.
7) Your Controls, Rights and Choices
a) Data Retention
We retain your Location-related information in aggregated unidentifiable format for as long as necessary to achieve the purposes described in this Privacy Policy, for example, to comply with our legal obligations, and we retain your IP address for as long as necessary to achieve the purposes described in this Privacy Policy, for example, to comply with our legal obligations and in any event for no longer than thirty (30) days.
b) Right to Access and Control your Personal Information
You may request access to the Location-related information and your IP address that we have collected and maintained (along with information regarding its use and disclosure) over the past twelve (12) months upon appropriate verification. You may only make such requests twice (2) per every twelve (12) months. We will delete such information within twenty-four (24) hours of receiving your request. Please be aware that while we will delete the information, each time you use our applications, services, and games this information may be automatically collected again and if you wish us to remove the information, a new request will be necessary.
You may have the right to lodge a complaint with a competent supervisory authority, subject to applicable law.
To the extent that VPT’s processing of your Personal Information is subject to the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), VPT relies on its lawful bases, described below, to process your data.
